Nordic Christmas is all packed up for this time round.

Nordic Christmas village closed with a fire dance performance, worshops finished guiding people through re-use themed christmas gift ideas, the rare camerun mountain goats are back home at the zoo, huskys rest their paws by the chimney and the teepees are drying somewhere. All the borrowed stuff shall be taken back. The socks became stick horses, the tea candle cases ran out and the coloring pages were taken along.
The seven days went by quickly, looking back. The interest of people was enourmous, They asked so many questions and really wanted to learn new stuff, although mostly in thoery and not by practice. It is strange that they did not dare take their gloves off when they clearly saw I myself wasnt afraid to do that.

Millest mul on hää meel?
I am satisfied and glad for the facts that the teepees did not come down on anybody, that nice security guard included. I am overjoyed to have found such amazing new friends, like the Estonian Siberian Husky Society with their leader Viljar being one of the nicest, most good-hearted and understanding people I have ever met; and the Tallinn Kopli Professional Svhool with the teacher Mare who were amazingly patient with people climbing all over them at the sapmi teepee which they shared with the goats and the rabbits, pushing the poor boys further and further towards the teepee wall until they had to move out. I have no means to thank the huskies. If only I could turn the streets of Tallinn into and endless sleigh track, I would like to do it as a new years´ present to those dogs.
I am happy, that no one got seriously burned with the stove at the yurt. I am content that the girls and boys kept up a good mood and did not get worn out and tired during those long and chilly days.
I am pretty relieved nobody stole the sleigh of the huskies.
Tööpõlled on suht äge töötubade korraldamise riietus. Neid peab uuesti teinekord laenama. Ajalehepaberist müts oleks aga tõepoolest ehk liig olnud.
I am positively surprised at the great interest non-estonian citizens showed towards the activities and that the coloring pages were as popular as they were. I am content that there was enough things to do each day and that made the hours fly by without leaving the bunch of us sick and tired of having to be there. I am extremely fortunate to have found at least one place to go for a pee every day!...even though it was impossible to get away from the teepees until the very last minute...The coin changing machine at the paid toilets inside the Freedom Square tunnel was not filled up for five days and it ate my bloody 5EEK, bugger.
I guess I can be rather satisfied with the reaction to our call to collect waste material. Thanks to the City office and some cafeterias. Most of them were lazy though. There were a few good people who brought tea candle cases.
red aprons were a good accessory for workshop teachers, but I guess a newspaper painters´ hat would have been too much.
Mis ei õnnestunud?
Taaskasutuskampaania.
What did not work so well?
The re-use campaign, that should have been announced over the tele to work. The creativity brainstorms, that need a more specific interest group. It was a grand idea, but a bad place and time, too damp and too hectic and hasty.
The paperwork did not work well enough, cause the teepee was damp and cold and even though we moved some of the activity to the yurt, it was too small for the masses of people wanting to learn stuff.
Noh, kivi mu enda kapsaaaeda ikkagi.
Kunstnikud. Neid ei saa usaldada. No ma ju tean seda. Liiga enesekesksed? Pole harjunud inimestele hääst tahtest teadmisi jagama. Arusaadav.
The block printing dyes froze over... and the artist helpers cannot be trusted at all. Too stuck up with their own self. But I can understand. why should they give out their authors´ know-how to strangers for free? If I myself had ever been in sound mind I would not do it constantly either.
Mida võiks järgmisel korral teistmoodi või lisaks teha?
peenem meisterdamistöö tuleks kohe jurtasse planeerida ning jätta suurem koda kohe laulu-mängu jaoks.
Next time all the crafting that needs a finer approach should be directlyplanned into the yurt.
Kodade kaunistus, esteetiline külg, peab olema VÕIMAS. Rohkem tuleb keskenduda NÄITAMISELE kui kaasahaaramisele. Asjad ja tegevused mida meil näidata on, on nagunii sedavõrd head (ON, tõesti on), et inimestel jääb ka ise proovimata suu ammuli.
The deocorations need to be outstanding. We have to concentrate on showing and exhibiting more than people participating. It has to knock them out. It already impresses people what we have to show as it is, leaving them to stand and stare.
Tuleb kasutada võimalust, et inimestel taskus raha sügeleb (mitte küll millegi kasuliku õppimise eest tasumiseks, ikka kõhu orjamiseks ja asjade soetamiseks). Tuleb lasta kõigil osalejail ise teenida, las küpsetavad kooke iga päeva ja müüvad tooteid.
We need to take advantage of the fact that people are willing to spend and have more stuff for sale, like cakes and craft objects the participants have made.
MINA pean rohkem pingutama.
Enabling even more independence to people, leaving them with just the worksheets and materials and no teachers at all. But the worksheets wouldcost money of course. Perhaps we should have some sort of automats where you have to insert coins to get a tutorial. I mean, why should people assume they have to get things for free that someone has spent time preparing for them and printing out?
We could also just live a "village life", you know, deal with everyday stuff and demonstrate activities that would naturally need to be done in such a place, like mending clothes, cooking, teaching children etc. We would need to become sort of like actors for that though, spending the whole day staying in "character" and not being just tutors-teachers.
Thank you, all the participants, the guys who made the fire and helped in cleaning the teepees from snow in the morning, and to Indrek and his mom and Triinu and for gods sake, to Viljar again, who knows so much about the inutis and the huskies. And...well, thanks to the old punk who hanged around every day morning till night, although he was kind of creepy. and I am very sorry but I am not willing to turn it into a year-round event just cause he has no where to go after we are gone. You can´t be that selfish even if you are a cripple!
Thanks to the parents who allowed their children to make something, and to the children who weren´t too shy to take part. And damn if I can think of anything else to write so now it is time to go and start washing the smell of the fire off my clothes and blankets.
Thats it.
Kohtumiseni.
See ya.
